An augmented reality mobile application focused on climate change for Holition.

Developed by a group of students, the immersive application encourages users to take action against climate change by reducing their carbon footprint.

Launching the application, users experience an augmented reality visual of a tree, representing data on climate change and the impact of their actions.

Scene 1 - The first visualisation shows a polluted, encaged tree with vines wrapped around, each representing a sector with the highest carbon emissions.

Scene 2 - After selecting a promise, the data visualisation of the dying tree is transformed into one that is full of life, symbolising the significance of their act.

Users are invited to make a promise, from eating less meat to installing a smart heating system, as a commitment to reducing their carbon footprint.

The results of the project were exhibited at a pop-up shop in Central London where members of the public could experience the mobile application.

“Intertwined Futures addresses issues that matter to us - one is sustainability, and the second is digital, and how technology can be used to encourage exploration and create meaningful interactions.”
